There is no doubt that healthy water is a lifeline and one of the basic human rights. We draw inspiration from some international and regional statistics, that many members of Afghan society do not have access to clean water, as security incidents and the humanitarian crisis facing this country have caused a significant increase in water costs.
Access to improved drinking water had increased from 48 percent of the population in 2010 to 67 percent in 2017.* Yet, droughts and poor water resources management are causing water shortages and large regional disparities between urban and rural areas: 96 percent of the urban population is covered, compared to only 57 percent of rural areas.**
more effective water management can be significantly delayed and both have long lead-times to show results.
Omaid Al Hasanat Charitable Organization seeks to provide clean water and sanitation to the vulnerable people of Afghanistan.
